"Browns Lose 4 Starters, Buy Nothing"
On Wednesday the NFL free agency period kicked off. Major deals were made across the league
with several teams making multiple signings to add some strengths to fill those holes. Then there
is the Cleveland Browns whom entered the day with nearly 40 million dollars in cap space
according to multiple sites making them one of the top teams in terms of cap space. So you would
think the Browns would take advantage with the cap space they have right? Not so much. The
Browns not only did not make a single deal they managed to lose much more by days end.
The Browns managed to lose four key starters: Pro Browl Center Alex Mack, offensive tackle
Mitchell Schwartz, wide receiver Travis Benjamin and Pro Bowl Safety Tashaun Gibson. So Browns
fans are really scratching their heads after the first day of free agency. The national media is
questioning the logic/motive in what they’re trying to accomplish. The Browns hired ex-Bengals
offensive coordinator Hue Jackson who was a hot commodity and completely overhauled their
front office. Judging by the first day free agency the new regime is off to a not-so-promising start.
